Track configurator
Is this track system right for you?
Astro's 230 V track is a simple, slim system, but it isn't the best fit for every project. Here is how to tell.
It's a great fit if you want to:
- Keep the look clean. The track is slim and comes in black or white, so it blends into modern ceilings.
- Light a space flexibly. Spotlights clip on anywhere along the track, so you can move, add or remove lights as your needs change.
- Avoid extra equipment. It runs on 230 V, so there's no transformer to hide, power or replace.
- Build a custom shape. Straight runs, corners, T-junctions and crossovers are available. A closed loop, such as a rectangle, is possible with a Live Connector.
- Keep it simple. One power feed, standard 1 m and 2 m lengths, and a parts list that adds up as you design.
Think twice if you need:
- Separate lighting zones. All the lights on one track share a single circuit, so they switch and dim together. If you want zones controlled independently, you would need separate tracks, each on its own feed.
- More than 2,300 W on one feed. The configurator checks your total load. If you go over, you will need to split the design into more than one run with its own power.
- Several power points on one run. The track is fed from a single point. If your layout needs power to enter in more than one place, plan separate runs.
- A DIY install. The track is mains voltage, so it must be installed by a licensed electrician.
- Very long runs. The configurator limits a single run to 12 m, and anything beyond that needs a second run.

2Lay out your track
Plan view: this drawing looks down on the ceiling layout from above, so the top of the drawing is the top of the plan (not a compass direction). Grid squares are 0.5 m. Track cannot run into other track. To close a loop, such as a rectangle, start with a Live Connector. Left and right for connectors are as you follow the track away from the power feed.
3Add your spotlights
Spotlights clip onto the track and can be moved along it. Choose a finish and use the + button under a spotlight to add it. GU10 spotlights do not include a lamp, so choose one of ours or supply your own.
4Place them on your plan (optional)
