Lighting plan review

Planning a build or renovation? Start with the lighting.

Send us your plans, your budget and a few products or images you like. If your project suits our range, we'll talk it through with you and come back with product recommendations and a quote.

Who it's for

01

Whole rooms and homes

New builds, renovations and fit-outs where several rooms or a whole floor need planning together.

02

Early in the build

Projects with plans drawn and electrical rough-in still ahead, when lights can move on paper.

03

A budget that suits the range

Our brands are designer lighting from the original makers. A realistic budget lets us suggest pieces that work for you.

Only need a fitting or two? Our configurators and product pages will get you there faster.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your project. Send your plans, budget, timing and the products or images you like, using the form below.
  2. We look at it. We'll let you know whether it's a project we can help with.
  3. We talk it through. A call to understand the space, the look you're after and what matters most.
  4. Recommendations and a quote. Where it's a good fit, we suggest products for each space and quote on them.

This isn't an electrical plan. We advise on which lights to use and where they work best. Your electrician designs the circuits, switching and wiring, and makes sure the installation meets the wiring rules.

Everything is done from your plans, photos and a call, so it doesn't matter where in Australia you're building.

Show us what you like

The quickest way to the right recommendations is to show us the look you're after. It tells our team more than any description, and means our first suggestions are close to the mark.

  • Products from our site. Paste links to the lights you've saved, even if you're not sure they suit the room.
  • Configurator specifications. If you've built a downlight or track system in one of our configurators, include the link.
  • Style cuts and mood boards. Photos of rooms you love, from magazines, Pinterest or Instagram. A few images say more than a paragraph.
  • What you don't like. Just as useful: a finish, a shape or a look you want to avoid.

What to include

The more we can see, the better we can judge whether and how we can help. Here's what makes the biggest difference.

Essential

  • A floor plan with dimensions (PDF, DWG or a clear photo). Room sizes decide how many lights you need and how far apart they sit.
  • Products or images you like. See above: links, configurator specifications or style cuts.
  • Your lighting budget. A range is fine. It tells us which brands and products to start from.
  • Where the project is up to, and your electrical rough-in date if you know it.

Helpful

  • Ceiling heights and type. A 2.4 m plaster ceiling and a 3.6 m raked one need different downlights and beam angles.
  • Furniture layout. The dining table sets where the pendant hangs; the bed sets the bedside lights.
  • Joinery drawings. Kitchen, bathroom and shelving elevations show where strip and under-cabinet lighting can go.
  • An existing electrical or reflected ceiling plan, if your architect or builder has drawn one.
  • Photos of the space, especially if you're renovating.
  • How you'd like to control it: standard dimming, smart control or DALI.

No plans yet? A photo of a hand sketch with measurements is enough to start.

Send it before rough-in

Moving a downlight on paper costs nothing. Moving it after the plasterboard is up means patching, painting and another visit from your electrician. If you can, get in touch before electrical rough-in.

Tell us about your project

Upload your plans and share the products or images you like. Your budget and timing help us see how we can help.

Questions

Is this a free design service?

No. It's a way to find out whether our range is right for your project. We'll look at what you send and, if it's a good fit, talk it through and quote on the products. Any further design work is something we discuss project by project.

Why do you ask about budget?

So we can be straight with you. Our brands are designer lighting from the original makers, and knowing your budget early lets us suggest the right pieces, or tell you honestly if we're not the right fit.

Will you take on every project?

No. We look at every enquiry and take forward the ones where the scope, timing and budget suit our range. If we can't help, we'll tell you.

I only need one or two lights. Can you help?

Of course. This page is set up for larger projects, but we're always happy to help, whatever the size. For a light or two, browsing the range or trying our configurators is often the quickest way to find the right fit. If you have a question or want a second opinion, get in touch and our team will point you in the right direction.

Do I have to buy from you?

No. If you're already working with a lighting retailer or designer, tell us in the form. We're happy to work alongside them, and you can buy through them.

Is this an electrical plan?

No. We advise on which lights to use (downlights, track, pendants, wall lights and strip lighting), where they work best and how you might control them. We don't design circuits, switching, cable runs or check compliance. Your licensed electrician designs and installs the electrical work.

Can you visit the site?

We work from your plans, photos and a call, which means we can help wherever you're building. If you're near Brisbane, you're welcome to bring your plans to our Teneriffe showroom.

I'm an architect or designer. Can I use this?

Yes, send your project the same way. For specification work and trade pricing, apply for a trade account.

Choosing for one room?

Our configurators help you choose the right downlight or track system in a few minutes.
